The results are in: by an overwhelming 90% (1882-yes to 198-no), we as grad workers voted in favor of CGE-UAW as our union!
Nearly a year after we filed cards with the Pennsylvania Labor Board, we have finally won the right to collectively advocate for the workplace we deserve. We’ve demonstrated overwhelming support for our union and our willingness to show up for ourselves and each other when it counts!
Our victory is historic: with this YES vote, we have become the second largest public sector union in the state of Pennsylvania. We look forward to meeting Penn State admin at the bargaining table to negotiate in good faith for our first contract. As we begin preparing for negotiations, we are excited to have the support of over 80 elected leaders across Pennsylvania.
We will have more information soon regarding next steps in our campaign, including electing our first bargaining committee. For now, take a few minutes to fill out a bargaining survey so you can participate in collectively determining our bargaining priorities – and take a moment to celebrate this incredible display of our power as workers!
